Lori
Ms. Lori has been in the Early Childhood Education field since 1995. She holds an A.A.S in Early Childhood Education and a B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Child Development. She is a Level III director and 5 star Lead teacher and the owner of Country Day Nursery School. She has held a variety of roles in licensed childcare programs in the Triangle – from cooking to teaching, to administration and advocacy. She also spent some time serving on the board of the Chatham County Partnership for Children and has won regional awards. Lori shares her home with Country Day Nursery School as well as her husband, Travis, and their 5 dogs and 3 cats. Her 3 children have grown up and left the nest.

Makayla
Ms. Makayla has been working with young children since 2018. She is currently studying Early Childhood Education and has completed her NC Early Childhood Credential. She has a deep passion for play-based, hands-on learning where children feel safe to explore, try new things, and grow independently. Makayla lives on a small farm with her wife, where they care for goats, cows, and chickens. Farm life teaches patience, responsibility, and connection to nature — values she brings into the classroom. She spends most of her time outdoors, and believes children learn best the same way: through real experiences and joyful discovery. Her heart for inclusion comes from her younger brother, who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Growing up with him shaped her love for working with children of all abilities and creating a classroom where every child feels seen, welcomed, and capable. She is so excited to learn, explore, and grow alongside your child!

★★★★★
We love Country Day Preschool! As a mom of 3, we have been to a lot of daycares, preschools, and child care centers. There is just something so special about an in-home preschool. It is consistent, loving care by the same individuals every day. Our son has thrived there. He has made friends, learned, grown, and most importantly been nurtured. We love the play-based learning. Ms Lori’s backyard is like none other. It is truly a magical place and we couldn’t be happier with our decision to send him there!
